1 Year Later

October 18, 2012 - I was getting ready leave for the weekend. The Boise Temple Open house was going on that weekend.  Had he been feeling up to it, he said he would want to go. As the time got closer to the event, we knew that he wouldn't be able to come with me. ) I reminded Spencer that I would be gone for the weekend.

October 19, 2012 – I got the oil changed in my car. I picked up a hat and eye patch at the store. I was going to make Spencer be a pirate with me for Halloween. At 3:00pm I sent to his house. I kissed him on the cheek, told him that I love him and that I would be back on Monday to see him. He was asleep. He was snoring cute little baby snores with his mouth open a little. He was so cute. I wanted to go see my family. I also didn't want to leave Spencer. I was so scared for this trip.

October 20, 2012 - One year ago at 5:40am I received a phone call from Spencer's Mom. She informed me that He had been called home. I just sat on my brother Ryan's couch crying and in shock. I spent the next couple of hours calling people in my family to update them. I can't even fathom what was happening at the Hales House. I know what I was going through but I can't even begin to know what they were going through.
I was so thankful that I was with my family when everything happened. I wouldn't have been able to handle anything if I had been home alone. Dedra came back with me for the next week. I was so glad to have her at the funeral.

This last year has just flown by. I look back and can't even say where the time has gone. I have been saying out loud "Spencer's been dead for a year." over and over again. Even though it's been a year, it's still hard to believe. I really have a hard time wrapping my brain around it. I am still working at the same job. I am still living in the same apartment. I have the same friends. I do a lot of the same things. I am going to school now. Kyle is living with me. With so much still the same, I keep wanting Spencer to show up at my house and say "I missed you and I'm back now." I still wish we could have gotten married. Just so that I would have been able to have the option of being sealed either later in this life or after my own death. It makes me cry that I don't really have the promise of forever with him.

I still think about him every day.  My heart hurts still. I will have dreams about him sometimes. When I wake up I just cry. It's like its day one again. I still haven't been able to take down the pictures I have of us in my house. I still have the roses he gave me for Valentine's Day dried and hanging upside down from the curtains in my kitchen.  I still have things the recipes that he wanted us to try taped to my kitchen wall. I won't make BBQ chicken, French toast of biscuits and gravy because he loved them.  It hurts my guts too much. Whenever I hear Muse on the radio I cry still. I don't enjoy working on puzzles anymore. There are so many things that bring up good memories. I still love him so much.  Knowing that I can't make any more memories with him and that we don't have forever is what I think, hurts the most. He was the most amazing person. He brought so much joy to my life. He has changed me in so many ways. We were able to be there for each other. There wasn't anything we weren't willing to do or sacrifice for each other. He was the other half of my Orange.

Spencer made my promise that I would get married and have children. He told me that I had to love my husband. He told me I had to sing to my children. I trusted him with everything. We could talk about anything. There was nothing that we couldn't say to the other.  We truly understood each other. I love him. I know that is something that will never change. He will always have a special place in my heart. He was my everything.

I know I need to move forward. He wanted that for me. I also want that for myself. I am taking baby steps towards the things that I eventually want in this life. It just hurts more than I expected it to… move on without him next to me.

8/20/2013

It has been 10 months since Spencer passed away. I still feel like I am just going through the motions of life but it is getting easier.

In the last 10 months I have visited home, had family visit me, made blankets, moved Kyle to Utah, Went to 10 of the 16 Temples in Utah, Spent lots of time with my family, tried to date again (I HATE dating so much), got a second job and have started school.

I am trying to keep busy. Sometimes it will hit me hard that he is actually gone. Then it will feel like it just happened. I feel like I am starting from square one again. I will visit him I take a breath and just keep moving forward.

I was talking to one of my friends at work today. He told me how great he thinks it is that I am able to openly talk about Spencer’s death and how comfortable I am. He doesn’t get that sometimes I just need to talk. I miss Spencer so much. I miss the conversations we would have. I miss him just being in the other room as I did dishes. I love him so much still.

The last 10 months have really been a learning experience for me. Learning to do things on my own is still something I struggle with. (I still forget that he isn't right behind me when I walk into the grocery store. I miss bumping my bum with the cart then giggling.)

This post is just ramblings of my brain at the moment. I don’t know if it even makes sense or not. I haven’t proof read any of this. What everything boils down to is that I miss Spencer. I can't hardly believe that he has been gone for 10 months.

Acne

So I have had acne for a good 10 years. My mom told me to just wash my face better and it would go away. It worked that was for the rest of the kids... Not so much for me.

I have tried every type of soap. I have tried creams. I have tried just using really hot water. I have changed the makeup I use. I stopped using make up all together for a while.

My awesome acne feels like it will never go away. It hurts. My face is sore and tender all the time. I am angry about it right now. This is the face that Spencer will see last. He won't get to see a me. He gets to see this. I feel gross.

August 20, 2012

I am going to ramble for a few minute. I am going to write everything down that comes to my mind for the next 5 minutes.

When you are calling a company and they give you a 1.800 number that had options what do you do? If I don’t hear what I want to hear I press 0 so that I can speak to a person. People who call us don’t do that. They hit button 1. That is the department that I work in. We deal with the emergency dispatching and account history and Special Instructions. Now, when you have questions about your bill, scheduling a tech to come out, questions about your new sensors, want to update your system, Licensing updates or whatever else you need to talk about that isn’t what we deal please KEEP LISTENING TO THE OPTIONS! They hear “Report a false alarm” and think that because why don’t have an emergency they should talk to us. That is simply not the case. It drives me crazy sometimes. Like now. The last 6 or 7 calls have been for people that haven’t needed this department. One person even said “Extension 5**9 Please” IF YOU KNOW THE EXTENSION, THEN TYPE IT IN YOURSELF!!! That really bugged me. –

Other things that have happened today:
· Cameron told me to put my phone away. I told him “Hell no”. (I need to talk nice. He is just a big bully and I don’t want to give him the satisfaction of winning.)
· David and I giggled like little girls because it bothered James.
· James told us funny stories from his trips to Las Vegas.
· We blew up a beach ball and played indoor volley ball.
· I reached under the desk and grabbed Tiffany’s feet because she always jumps and shrieks. Hahaha. (It was so funny!)
· Herschel walked around handing out gold fish crackers
· I talked to someone named Ronald Crapps – Not a joke that was his name.
· When people had ring back tones we put our phones on speaker and had mini dance parties.
· There is a girl that I work with that is an idiot. We like to tell her she’s pretty. She always tells us thanks when we tell her she’s pretty. She doesn’t get it…

Other things happened too. It was a fun day at work. I was glad I came in. – That was my 5 minutes.

I have a new idea for a blanket. I am a little nervous. I want it to work but that is still to be seen. I will post pictures if I can figure it out. Haha. This ugly blanket has taught me so much about sewing. It isn’t fancy. It is old crappy fabric. It’s been an amazing learning curve. I am excited to do more.

Just in case anyone cares I want a rotary cutter for Christmas. YOU BETTER CARE!

I was able to spend my evening with Spencer. I was glad for that. He is my favorite. He slept most of the time. He only ever woke up to ask what was wrong with him. This is the conversation we had maybe 10 times tonight

Him: what's going on?
Me: you're resting in your room.
Him: what's wrong with me?
Me: you have brain cancer.
Him: what do I do?
Me: endure.
Him: I'm sorry.
Me: for what?
Him: I don't know. I'm just sorry.
Me: don't be this will pass and everything will work out.
Him: I don't mean to make you sad.
Me: you don't. You are my happy.

He would then close his eyes and sleep for a little bit.

I left around 8. I work in the morning. Work will be good this week.

On a gross note, My allergies are trying to make my nose explode. Its ruining my life! I'll leave you with that. Hahaha

Bonus Post

This is what I am going to call a bonus blog. I am at work. We all sit at desks. We have an unlimited supply of free soda and hot chocolate. There is a cafĂ© down stairs that gives free food to the employees. We have a gym in the other building that is hardly ever used. They have started the “Biggest Loser” here at work. Todd is notorious for giving away cruses. He right now has 6 dirt bikes downstairs that he is going to give away.

To me, this still isn’t enough to get me off my big butt. I am not scared of my weight. I weigh 188. I weighed myself on Wednesday. I am 5’6 according to all the fun charts I’ve looked at I should be about 50-65 pounds lighter. I could work on that… or I could eat a root beer float and watch a movie. I vote for the latter. I like root beer floats much more than doing sit-ups… I exercise enough to maintain. Haha.

I see the reason as to why they are starting a weight loss competition. In the last 4 months I have seen several people plump up. When they asked if I was going to be part of this “game” I told them no. I have FGS (Fat Girl Syndrome) and I am okay with it. I thought it was rude that they asked me. I was the only one that was asked by name if I was going to participate. It’s like they are trying to tell me something. They’re rude. I should bring treats to work to thwart their plans. Muhahaha!

There was zero proof reading done on this blog post.

I have some catching up to do.

After church I went over to Spencer’s house. He was in the kitchen. Everyone else was putting the finishing touches on dinner. I moved Spencer to the table.

After dinner he wasn’t feeling well. His stomach was really bothering him. He went to lay down in the study. After his stomach was feeling somewhat better he said he wanted to go upstairs.

I took him to his room. We talked for a bit. He is in a really dark place right now. He is so ready for all of this to just be over. He said how he feels like he is wasting every ones time. That he just causes stress. That he is sick of life. I keep trying to comfort him when we talk like that. It’s hard to convince him that he is worthwhile. He doesn’t want to hear it. He says that he is ruining everything. That because he is sick we don’t get to do any of the things we planned. That I shouldn’t love him anymore. That I should find someone that isn’t dying. Then out of nowhere he asked me “What are we doing? What’s going on?” I told him he was upstairs in his bed just resting. He said okay and then closed his eyes. From that point on I couldn’t even move my hand because he would hold it tighter if I shifted in anyway. It took about 10 minutes for me to talk him in to letting it go so I could go home. I was keen on staying. I don’t think his parents would have been as okay with it. Ha!

After I got home I was able to clean my messy house for a minute before Derek and River came over. Derek needed his hair cute so bad. They went to see Spencer on Saturday. Derek said it was really hard to talk to Spencer. He wasn’t all there. Derek asked what I thought about getting together in a couple of week and having dinner. I said I will see what we can do. I don’t know how Spencer will be in couple of weeks. We’d be hard pressed to get Calli to let him out of her site as it is. We may end up having a picnic in the back yard at Spencer’s house… That’s not really a bad Idea now that I think about it.

So here comes the part of the Blog Post that is being written to make Dedra painfully Jealous. Kate, Dedra’s best friend is in Utah. Kate is a bit of a stalker. She took a picture of my house and sent it to Dedra. Kate then text me and said there was a crazy lady outside of my house. Haha. Kate came over at 9pm to visit and have a root beer float. Kate and I took a picture of us standing like Superheroes. We are rad. Dedra is Jealous. MUHAHAHA! I had never met Kate before. I’d talked on the phone with her but that was all. It was nice to finally meet her. She’s funny.

I was in bed much later than I should have been. I am not even more tired that I normally am for work. WOOT!

Cam was in charge of the floor again today. He ruins my life most days. Today was one of them. I’m not his favorite because I talk back. He tries to be intimidating. For most of the people, that works. I am not most people. It bothers him that I don’t bend over backwards like the other minions do. I’m glad he leaves at 2.

This week out Central Station is the one doing ALL the inbounds not just the overflow. It has made it harder for Cami and I to do the Special instructions project. It’s frustrating. It was nuts today. BLAH! Yay for work! It very much cramps my style.

I went to see the Doctor after work. It was just a follow up about my new meds. I’m still crazy. How’s that for fun? Oh wait… it’s not.

I finally got to Spencer's house around 6. He was laying on the couch in the kitchen. He was pretty out of it. He didn't really say anything until around 7:20 and all it was, was "What am I doing?"

After dinner we all went and sat on the porch. It was finally nice outside. There were crazy hot moments, stand still and you'll drown moments. It was really nice come 8pm. It only took all day to get here. Ha.

I took a couple of pictures of Spencer outside. He is so skinny. He still eats. I think they should start having him drink whole milk or maybe cream.

For family night they went on a ride in the truck. I sadly had to come home. My work schedule requires me to go to bed ridiculously early. I hope he had fun.

The app in my iPod that I update my blog with won't let me pick and chose where to put the pictures of what order they are in. That is why they are always at the end. If I was smart and fancy it would be different. Seeing how I am of average intelligence and only pretend to be fancy, you get pictures at they end. Also in a weird order. This app has flaws.

Spencer is a hacker!

Spencer... I love him a lot. Even when he hacks my blog and deleted the awesome pictures of him that I've posted.

Spencer, I love you.

P.s.
I don't like the cat. She needs to be dunked in a trash can full of water.

All rolled into one

So it's been a full week since I posted last. I don't love not having Internet. It ruins my life!

Memory Monday - My friend Katie and I had to make the diabetic dessert for the "Senior Saints" dinner when we were 16. We didn't have the baking splenda. We had about 500 packets that Katie stole from her dad. :) After opening all of the packets we were about 1/4 cup short. My mon said to just use sugar. Give the old people a treat. Katie and I weren't too big on killing people (yet) so we came up with a different plan.
We pooled our money and went to Denny's and bought a piece of pie. (The people at Shari's knew us. We didn't want band for life) We then stole all The splenda packets off the tables! Our waiter comes out and says "how come every time I turn around I hear sugar packets shufflin'?" Katie and I then emptied our pockets and explained what we were doing. He went in the back and brought out a big bucket of splenda packets and said we could take as much as we needed!
We didnt have money for a tip so we left a full subway card and Pass along card. Oh and just so you know, the brownies we made were gross. The moral of the story is USE SUGAR!

Tuesday - I again have no story. Work was rather uneventful. I didn't see Spencer and it was so hot out side I wanted to cry.

Wednesday - Dave (My boss) closed the shop with me. He worked the front desk while I cut hair. Things he'd claimed I'd done he had to do. Such as turn customers away because we were booked for the evening. He was sweet justice! He also said as we were cleaning up that he couldn't believe how great I was. Haha I don't know why he was so shocked but what ever. In the bulk email with the next work schedule he added
"Standing Ovation for Gina. As the only stylist for three hours in Orem I was amazed how many quality cuts she provided while providing a personal experience to each client. And the seven steps every time too! Big hand for Gina!"
Guess who got full time hours again! Better yet, guess who's quitting! OH THAT'S ME! Muhahaha!!!

Thursday - ......... I don't know

Friday - Spent the evening with Spencer. I sure do heart him.

Saturday - We went to Ikea in the morning. Then had a fun date that night. We went to dinner and then a late showing of Cars 2. It was really fun.

Sunday -

Good Idea- going on vacation
Bad Idea- Not telling all your kids and also not having cell coverage. RUDE! (Dad, Guilty!)

Good Idea- Ikea
Bad Idea- not renting a uhaul when going

Good Idea- fun dates with Spencer
Bad Idea- there is no bad idea for this one

Good Idea- 70 degrees with overcast
Bad Idea- This 90 degrees with no clouds crap we've been having! (...oh how I miss Washington...)

Good Idea- packing all your things up before you move.
Bad Idea- wanting to move now because you are living out of boxes... (I was overly motivated when packing)

Good Idea- taking naps
Bad Idea- wearing pants (I don't know why I think pants are a bad idea. I just don't like wearing them! Viva No Pants!)

Good Idea- having a night light when you're scared of the dark.
Bad Idea- taking down all of your glow in the dark stars because your moving. (I know I'm 25 and that I shouldn't be scared of the dark but my room is scary now. I can't wait to move so I'll have my night light again!)

This was my week!

Do NOT's of getting your hair cut part2

"Not too short but not too long" what does that mean? How short is too short? How long is too long? I have no idea. It is different for every person. Please people, we need a little more than that!

HOLD STILL! I don't care if you are 2 or 92. Hold still. If your child won't hold still please don't be mad if we can't get everything. It's hard to hit a moving target. If you are an adult, you have NO excuse to be wiggling. Kids have some excuse but once you are 3-3 1/2, you should be able to sit still for 10 minutes.
I had a kid in my chair today that was 13 and wouldn't hold still. He was wiggling so much I missed the comb and had to take his hair MUCH shorter than what his Mom wanted. It's very frustrating.

Don't tell me how you want your hair cut and then change your mind 50 times. One cut per customer please! I don't want to cut your hair over and over again. There is a kid named Jeremy that comes in ever 3 weeks. I always cut his hair. I will cut it at least 10 different ways before he leaves. He'll tell me, I cut it like he says and then he changes his mind. It makes me frustrated. I can do 3-4 haircuts in the time it takes me to cut his hair! Arg! He is always please and says he's coming back to me. That is great, other than I don't like him.

If you like your haircut, please tip your stylist. That's where we make our money. If you go to a restaurant and like your server you tip them right? It's the same with a stylist. Also, please don't ask us for change for a $100 and then walk out with out tipping. We know you have the money! Don't tell us it's the best haircut ever and not tip us too. That hurts our feelings. "hey you did great but you're not worth the extra $2" Well thanks buddy!

The do NOT's of getting your hair cut!

When you sit down in your stylist chair to get a haircut and they say "so how are we cutting your hair today?" DONT SAY SHORTER! It's the most annoying thing ever! We know you want your hair shorter! That's why you're here. We can't cut it longer!!! So if you know that you want a 2 on the sides and finger depth on top, say it!
When we ask how you want you hair cut don't tell us how you style it. That's not what we asked you!

Also, saying "trim" means nothing! I have seen "trims" where the people get 7 inches cut and "trims" where it's 1/4 inch.

"It doesn't matter, just cut it how you want" "you're the professional" We are professional. We also could shave your head and not care. So if you want hair when we're done, tell us. "Sure" is not an answer, it's an evasion! "Just cut it the same as last time" WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT WAS!

Let's talk about talking on your phone. RUDE!!!  We are trying to cut your hair. Being on the phone and acting like  we are the rude one makes me want to cut your ear.

If we are not done with your haircut please don't ask us if we are going to leave it like that. We're not done! If we move you or the chair dont move back. We put you there for a reason. If we do ask you how you style it please don't tell us the product you use. We don't care if it's gell or clay or wax. we want to know the style.

Don't say you're not picky and then question everything we do. It's okay if you're picky. Don't lie to our faces! Also, don't tell me your haircut is quick and easy. Do you cut hair? No? Then how do you know!?

Saying "oh you know" is also something that is annoying! NO WE DON'T KNOW!!! THATS WHY WE ARE ASKING YOU!!! We see so many people everyday. I personally average about 400 haircuts a month. Every person with out fail does one or more of these things. Please know what you want when you come in. If you can, bring a picture. It makes our lives so much easier. Also really look at the picture. If you have thin straight hair don't bring a picture of someone with thick curly hair saying you want that. This is a comb, not a wond! We do what we can but don't expect the impossible. If you don't know and want our advice, listen and answer our questions. We are trying to help you. Not attack you.

If you have gell in your hair, expect to pay the $2 for a shampoo. If you have an itch let us know. If you move and we aren't expecting it you should expect to lose more hair than you want. Never Ever EVER use the cape to get hair off your face. That is gross! Pull your hand out from under the cape.

I am going to let you all in on a secret. There are only 7 haircuts in the world. Long layers, short layers, elevated, graduated, clipper, vertical and blunt. That's it! There are all kinds of lengths you can have these cuts. There are many ways to style them. You can even mix and match the cuts on the same head of hair. There are still only the 7 cuts.

Random:

"I want length in the back to cover my neck but not a mullet" I'm sorry sir the definition of mullet is short on top and long in the back. I cut this "non-mullet" for this man and he was happy. It was a mullet. You can't have hair 4 inches in the back and 3/4 inch on top with out it being a mullet.

If you can avoid chewing gum when getting your hair cut. Please do so. If you must be chewing gum, please don't chew with your mouth open. I had a man sit in my hair that chewed like a cow and then started gagging when hair got in his mouth. I then started gagging. Not good. I also had a man in my chair that hadn't put his teeth in and was trying to chew his gum. That was one of the grossest things I'm ever seen.

A man walked in and asked for Flynn rider's haircut. He had his 3 little girls with him. He had grown the patch of hair on his chin and was now getting the haircut. His girls were so excited and kept saying he was the best dad ever. It was so cute.

One more thing before I end this rant. If the shop closes in 5 minutes and you come through the door please don't be mad if we are booked and can't take you. Please don't be mad if we just don't take you. We have been here for 10-12 hours and are tired. We have been here all day. We are open for 10-12 hours a day find time. Don't come in 5 minutes before close and ask for a 20 minute service. It's rude!

Thanks for reading my rant.

Work a.k.a Hell

Nothing is all bad... If you think about it you could say hell is just a sauna. Right? Anyway...

So best quote today at work came from an old man. I asked if he wanted his eyebrows trimmed he said "no, I have an eyebrow comb over. If you trim them people will know I'm bald."

There was a man in my chair, maybe 25 ish. He would not sit still. I told him I wad going to shave his head if he didn't stop moving. He kept turning my chair so he could look in the mirror. I flat out told him to stop that I need to see not him. He was a butt!

Anya is wonderful. She is one of my favorite coworkers! If I had to be in Hell today at least I was in good company. Haha

Then came my knight in a shiny black Mazda3. He rescued me and took me home. Yay! There was an event at the round table so he couldn't stay. :(

Even though i was in hell most of today and I missed seeing Spencer, it's been productive and fun.
